Alternative Destinations for 2023

Edinburg

If you’re eager to see London’s mix of modern architecture and historic streets with traditional features like red phone boxes and London taxis, but are put off by the exorbitant prices of London hotels and experiences,

I recommend Edinburgh as a budget alternative.

Visiting the Scottish capital is like stepping back in time.

Strolling the cobbled streets of the Royal Mile, visiting Edinburgh Castle and taking in the city views will almost transport you to medieval Scotland.

For all Harry Potter fans out there, there’s a lot to like about these books.

Bratislava

Visit Bratislava, the cute capital of Slovakia.

My timelines has been filled by many who have taken a visit to Bratislava.

Although it is still on my wishlist it is a quieter and far less expensive alternative to other cities.

The food is amazing and the hotels are budget proof.

Furthermore, it’s easy and relatively cheap to travel between the two capital cities.

So, in for a round trip?

Gdánsk

This city in Poland is known for its , and colorful vibes and big history.

Gdansk is one of the major cities in Poland it is also one of the oldest

(over 1000 years of tradition) it is home to many historical treasures.

It has historic merchant houses with ancient vibes, which reminds you of postwar reconstruction.

Dive into history and visit for example the Museum of the Second World War.

My favorite photo spots in Gdansk are:

The Old Town but especially these streets:

Mariacka, Długa and

Świętego Ducha Motława River embankment and the Amber Sky ferries wheel

León

Leon in Spain. A real hidden gem.

Find the breathtaking Basilica de San Isidoro and 13th-century Catedral de León keep watch over the city; duck inside the latter and marvel at its vidrieras, or stained-glass windows.

In the evening, peruse the city’s “old town,” or former medieval quarter, also known as the Barrio Húmedo.

Translated as the “wet neighborhood” thanks to its slew of taverns, bars, and restaurants.

Time for some tapas!

Hamburg

Looking for an original city trip?

Set sail for Hamburg!

From visiting musicals to the old town and street art in neighborhoods like Karoviertel and Schanze, to the various museums and special buildings in HafenCity, there is something for everyone.

Be sure to check out the Speicherstadt (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), where you can wander among the warehouses, or cycle through one of Hamburg’s most photographed sights.

Visit the theater’s production of Hot Corner a musical that’s been running since 2003, taking you on a theatrical tour of this colorful area.

When you visit Hamburg, you’ll find that music and culture play a big role here.

It is one of the most important music cities in the world, with many music venues.

Bordeaux

Bordeaux is a beautiful city known for its stunning architecture, easy day trips to the nearby French countryside, and world-famous wines.

It appears that the Bordeaux region is known for its prestigious, fine and full-bodied wines. More than 80% of Bordeaux wines are red wines made from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes.

Different blending and aging processes make these wines some of the best in the world! Whether you’re a foodie, want to experience life outside of Paris or just want to soak up the sun, Bordeaux has something for everyone.

The Cité du Vin is probably one of the best interactive museums for wine lovers.

Founded in 2016, it is a fairly new addition to the city of Bordeaux.

It mainly offers fun and educational tours of the world of wine!
