What is Skyscanner?

Skyscanner is a comparison website ( they also have an app) that compares all airfare prices between different airlines and online travel agencies. You don’t book your trips through Skyscanner itself, but you are redirected to the airline or travel agency’s website

Flexible in destination? Fly to ‘everywhere’.

I always do this, I mostly don’t have a destination in mind yet, but depending on the price, I check whether I see nice destinations that I want to visit.
Do you also want to base your destination on price? This is the best tip for people who are not yet sure where they want to fly to. Enter the airport you want to fly from. And when searching, you can specify ‘everywhere’ as the destination.

Step 1: In the destination field, type: ‘everywhere’

Step 2: Choose your dates you want to fly.

Step 3: Click on the ‘Search tickets’ button.

You will now see an overview of advantageous destinations for your data.

As you can see below the flights are incredibly cheap, to see it for yourself you can just simply visit here.

Do you know when you want to travel?

Then enter the departure and return dates. Do you not have fixed days, but do you want to fly in a certain period? You can easily find the best data in a specific period via Skyscanner.

Step 1: Click on the departure date field.

Step 2: Choose ‘All months’

Step 3: Choose the month you want to fly in

Step 4: click on the ‘Search tickets’ button.

Finding the cheapest period to fly to your destination of choice

Do you know where you want to go, but you don’t know when to fly at the lowest price? Use Skyscanner to find the cheapest period :

Step 1: Choose your departure airport

Step 2: Click on the departure date field.

Step 3: Click on ‘All months’ and choose ‘Cheapest month’

Here you will also see a calendar with the prices per date for departure and return. You can try different combinations here.

Try the Open Jaw flight – Method

An extra tip that can save you a lot of money is to book an OPEN JAW flight. An open-jaw flight is a booking variant of a flight where the arrival and departure airports differ from each other. The airport of destination for the outbound flight is therefore different from the airport of departure and/or destination for the return flight.
Some cities have multiple airports. I live in Rome for example, and we have Fiumicino and Ciampino airport. It only saves me 5 minutes longer driving towards Fiumicino where I will leave for Belgrade. But on return I will arrive at Rome Ciampino airport, this saved me the half of the original price.

Some more extra tips ;

Set up email alerts to track prices
When you have found interesting tickets, but you want to wait a little longer for the price to drop, you can set up email reminders so that you are notified if the price rises or falls. Do not wait for prices when they are already really low and it seems unrealistic that they will fall (for example Brussel for € 34 euros)
